Move characters to RPGNest

RPGNest is a separate site with its own accounts. You can send a copy of a GhoulApp character to your RPGNest account. The original stays in GhoulApp and nothing about it changes.

You need a GhoulApp account and an RPGNest account. Only characters saved in your GhoulApp account can be sent. Ones that live only in your browser can't.

Start the transfer

The transfer starts on RPGNest. RPGNest sends you to a GhoulApp page titled Transfer to RPGNest, where you pick the character.

For a 5th Edition or 20th Anniversary character you own you can also start from the sheet. Press EXPORT and choose Transfer to RPGNest in the window that opens. RPGNest opens in a new tab. If the sheet has changes you haven't saved yet the window asks you to save first and shows no button.

If the GhoulApp page says "Sign in to Ghoulapp, then return here to select your character.", press Open Ghoulapp to sign in. Sign in in the new tab, then come back.

Pick and send one character

1. Find the character under Saved character. Use Search your characters or the Edition filter if you have a lot. Load more characters at the bottom of the list shows the rest.
2. Press Preview saved version. GhoulApp shows what's included, like the clan, generation, strongest traits, Disciplines, Merits and Flaws. It also lists the fields it won't copy.
3. Decide whether to tick Also send restricted appearances. Restricted appearances are hidden from other players on GhoulApp. On RPGNest they join the character's gallery where anyone who can see the character can view them.
4. Press Approve this saved version. You go back to RPGNest, which shows you the character before you save it there and lets you choose who can see it.

Send several at once

Tick up to 50 characters and press the button at the bottom. It reads Send followed by the number, for example Send 3 characters. Clear selection unticks them all. There's no preview here. RPGNest shows you each one before any of them is saved.

What's copied

Identity, ratings, chosen powers, resources and your writing are copied where RPGNest supports them. Your portrait and appearances are copied as links to the images on GhoulApp.

For a character in a chronicle the chronicle's name, description, edition, storyteller, cover, start date and status are copied too. Nothing else from the chronicle is.

Only the last saved version travels. Unsaved changes in another tab aren't included.

Editions

5th Edition, 20th Anniversary, Dark Ages and 6th Edition characters can all be sent. The button on the sheet only shows for 5th Edition and 20th Anniversary characters. For Dark Ages and 6th Edition start from RPGNest.

If something goes wrong

• "The transfer could not be completed." Refresh the page to try again. If the request has expired start again on RPGNest.
• "The saved character changed. Preview it again before approving." The character was saved somewhere else while you were looking. Press Preview again.
• "This saved character is not available to your account." GhoulApp can't find that character in the account you're signed in to. Check you're signed in with the right one.
• "This transfer already has an approved version." You approved this request before. Retry from RPGNest or start a new transfer there.
• RPGNest cannot receive this edition yet on a row means that character can't be sent for now.
• To stop without sending anything press Cancel and return to Ghoulapp.
