Saving and your data

Download your character as a file

You can download a character as a PDF from its sheet in every edition. GhoulApp has no way to load a character back from a file.

Download a PDF

  1. Open the character's sheet.
  2. Press EXPORT in the sheet's toolbar or Download PDF in the sheet's menu.
  3. A window titled Export Dossier opens. Choose Archive (cream paper, made for reading on screen) or Printer (black and white, saves ink).

The download starts straight away and the window then shows the file it made. The PDF is named after the character and the edition, for example Julian_V5_Archive.pdf. 20th Anniversary and Dark Ages characters use the 20th Anniversary layout. A Dark Ages file says DA in its name, like Julian_DA_Printer.pdf. 6th Edition has its own layout.

You can also download a PDF before you save, from the creator's Summary under Export PDF. It has the same Archive and Printer buttons in every edition.

The character file

There's one other download and you'll only see it when something goes wrong. If saving fails on the creator's Summary a Download character file button appears under the error. Fast Build has Export reference copy for the same case. Both give you a file with everything you built so the work isn't lost.

Keep that file somewhere safe, but you can't open it in GhoulApp. Contact us from this help site if you need help with one.

Keeping a real backup

Keep your characters in your account. A character you make while signed out lives only in your browser. See Move your browser characters into your account.
