What GhoulApp is

GhoulApp is a free companion app for Vampire: The Masquerade. It runs in your browser on a phone or a computer and there's nothing to install. It's an unofficial fan project made and run by a small team.

It supports four editions: V5, V20, Dark Ages and the V6 playtest. Each one builds and rolls by its own rules. See The four editions and Custom.

For players

  • A character creator that walks you through every step of your edition with the rules for each choice on screen. Fast Build makes a whole character at once and you change what you want afterwards.
  • A character sheet you play from. Every trait is on it with dice and XP tracking built in. You can export it as a PDF.
  • A dice roller that knows your edition's rules, Hunger in V5 included.
  • A profile where you can show the characters you choose to make public.

You can make and play characters without an account. They're kept only in your browser until you sign in. See Can I use GhoulApp without an account?

For storytellers

A chronicle is a shared space for one table. Your players bind their sheets to it and you keep your NPCs, maps, sessions, timeline and notes in one place. If you choose to approve XP spending your players send their requests to you there. See Start your first chronicle.

Tools holds generators and references you can use while you prepare or play.

Finding your way

On a computer the bar at the top of the page has Create, Blood Test (a quiz that suggests a clan), Fast Build, Dice, Community, Chronicle, Tools, Support and the edition switch. On a phone the bar at the bottom has Home, Chronicle, Dice, your notifications and Profile once you're signed in.

Signed in the front page starts with what needs you: Waiting on you, Your chronicles, Your characters and Continue creating for characters you haven't finished. New accounts also see Where do you start with a way to make a character, join a chronicle or run one.

What it costs

Nothing. There are no ads and no finished feature is locked behind a payment. GhoulApp is paid for by people who choose to support it on Patreon. Supporters at Mythic and above can try new features early while they're still being tested. See What does supporting on Patreon give me?
