Dice in a Custom chronicle

In a Custom chronicle every player rolls by their own character's edition. A V5 player rolls with Hunger dice and the V20 player beside them rolls against a difficulty. Dark Ages characters roll by V20 rules and V6 characters by V6. Everyone sees each roll the way it was made.
This works once the player's sheet is linked to the chronicle. See Link your character to a chronicle.
The storyteller's rolls
The storyteller usually rolls with no sheet of their own. Then the tray counts the chronicle's characters and uses the edition most of them have. Dark Ages sheets count with V20 here because they roll the same dice. So a table with three Dark Ages characters and two V5 characters starts the tray on V20. On a tie the tray goes with V5. V6 is picked only when V6 characters outnumber both of the others.
Any roll you build from a record follows that record. Build a pool from a V20 character's sheet or roll an NPC's saved pool and the tray switches to that record's edition for the roll. This holds in every chronicle, a V5 or V20 one included, so a V5 storyteller rolling a V20 NPC gets V20 dice.
Picking the system yourself
You can always set it by hand. Open Dice settings at the top of the tray and pick V5, V20 or V6 under System. V6 is offered there in a Custom chronicle only. There's no separate Dark Ages choice: pick V20 for a Dark Ages roll.
Changing the system sets Difficulty back to that system's starting value. The rest of the panel changes with it. V5 shows Official V5 dice and Rouse checks. V20 shows Blood points and Willpower success. The Difficulty switch shows for V5 and V6 because V20 always rolls against its target number. The dice tray explains every row.
Your choice holds until you open another chronicle. There the tray starts from that chronicle's own default again.
What each roll looks like
Each edition reads its dice in its own way and the feed shows each roll in its own words. V5, V20 and Dark Ages and V6 each have an article. Every V6 roll carries an Alpha tag. Its help mark says the V6 rules follow the playtest and can change.
Dice rules the storyteller sets for the table are in the Rolls tab of Table Rules.
