The Relationship Map Seed
On this page 4
The Relationship Map Seed rolls who owes, hates or loves whom. You get a set of people (the nodes) and the ties between them (the edges), ready to drop into a city or a court. It's a storyteller tool under People and places on the Tools page and it works without an account.
To roll the city they live in see The City and Domain Builder.
The four modes
The tabs at the top pick the mode. In V5 there are four. In V20, Dark Ages and V6 only Relationship Web is offered and the earlier rolls of the other modes are hidden.
Relationship Web is a plain web of people and ties. It starts at 6 people and 8 ties.
Occult Market starts with the coterie's involvement and at least three suppliers, clients, locations and disruptors. Three live Trends come with it. It needs at least 13 people and starts at 14 with 18 ties.
Mystic Network maps supernatural sites and how they connect. It needs at least 3 people and starts at 7 with 8 ties.
Court Politics starts with a court, two competing factions and a current pressure. It also asks for a Court framework: Monarchy, Firm, Collegium, Family, Caligula or Assembly. It needs at least 6 people and at least 5 ties. It never has fewer ties than people minus one.
Under Map size set Nodes (up to 20) and Edges (up to 40). They can't go below the mode's minimum. Then press Roll or R.
What you get
The result is a set of tables. One lists each person with their type, clan and potency. One lists each tie: who, what kind of tie, to whom and how tense it is. An Occult Market also lists its Trends with a prompt and how much Heat each one carries. At the end of a story each Trend takes 1 Superficial Heat damage.
Court Politics adds the court itself first: its key role, what it wants, what it uses, what divides it and the current pressure.
Use your own NPCs
In Relationship Web you can use a chronicle's NPCs as the people. You need to be signed in and run the chronicle.
- Under NPCs as nodes pick the Chronicle.
- Pick 2 to 20 of its NPCs from the list.
- Press Roll.
Ties the chronicle already records between those NPCs come in as they are, marked On the chronicle. The rest are rolled. A rolled map never adds a sire, childe, domitor or blood bond tie between real NPCs because those are facts the chronicle keeps itself. The tool reads the chronicle and writes nothing to it.
A map made from your NPCs has no Copy link because the NPCs aren't part of the address. It's still kept under Earlier seeds.
To record ties in the chronicle itself use The relationship map.
Take it elsewhere
Download for Kumu.io saves a file you can import into Kumu, a site for drawing relationship maps. It holds the people and the ties plus the Trends when the map has them. Download JSON under Export saves the same file. Copy, Copy link and the rest work as in every tool. See Copy, export and share a tool's result.
Earlier maps are listed under Earlier seeds at the side.
