Player theories
On this page 4
Say your players suspect the Harpy is paying the Sheriff. Our theories lets them write that down. A theory joins two people with a dashed line and a question mark. It stays a guess and never becomes part of the relationship map unless the storyteller turns it into a real bond.
Turning it on
Theories start off. The storyteller switches on Players can write theories under Our theories on the Features tab in Settings. Switching it off later stops new theories and hides the button, but the theories already written aren't deleted. Turn it back on and they're there again.
Writing a theory
Our theories sits in the bar of the Relationships page. At the live table it shows on the stage while the Relationships view is up. Theories you can read also show on the graph as dashed lines.
Open Add a theory and pick the two people under From and To. You can choose any player character and any NPC you're allowed to see. A character with a Facade shows under its disguise. Write your guess in What you think and press Add theory.
If your character is in a coterie you also get Share with the coterie. It starts on, so the rest of the coterie reads your theory unless you switch it off. Each theory is marked Coterie or Only me so you can tell which is which.
You can't edit a theory once it's written. To change one, delete it from its menu and write it again. Only the person who wrote a theory can delete it.
Who reads them
You always read your own. Your coterie reads the ones you shared. The storyteller reads every theory. The drawer says so at the top so nobody's surprised.
The tabs are Mine, All and Confirmed. All is everything you can read. Storytellers don't get a Mine tab.
What the storyteller does with them
Storytellers don't write theories. They answer them from each theory's menu. Mark confirmed says the guess was right. Mark contradicted tells the players they're wrong. The app asks first, because that tells them something too. Make it a real bond opens the bond editor with the two people filled in, so the tie goes on the relationship map for real.
Each theory shows whether it's Open, Confirmed or Contradicted.
The same drawer is where players send a Propose a tie request and where the storyteller answers those. That part is explained in The relationship map.
